The Rise of Indoor Golf: Welcome to The Cave in Estero!

Have you noticed fewer golf driving ranges around Southwest Florida? Well, you’re not imagining things! As outdoor options dwindle, indoor golf simulators are suddenly popping up everywhere. One shining example is The Cave, a brand-new venue in Estero that’s turning the local golf scene upside down. Opened on February 4, The Cave is not just any indoor golf space; it’s got a bar, delicious food, and three state-of-the-art golf simulators!

Meet the Dynamic Duo Behind The Cave

The Cave is owned by a powerhouse couple: Karen Nicoletti, a pro golfer with the LPGA, and her husband, Brad Swearingen, a former professional golf caddy. Talk about credentials! They didn’t stop at just opening a golf venue; they’ve also rolled out free women’s golf clinics every Monday and have special offers for veterans, police, firefighters, emergency medical services workers, and educators. It’s like they’re on a mission to make golf accessible and fun for everyone!

A Home for Golf Lovers

Located at 9250 Corkscrew Road in Estero, The Cave operates daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. You can grab a simulator for $50 an hour, which accommodates up to six players. Bring your friends or family—this is the place to be for anyone who loves golf! And let’s not forget the menu; they serve up mouthwatering pizza, wings, and tasty appetizers. Who wouldn’t want to enjoy a game of golf while snacking on some delicious food?

The Impact of a Pandemic on Golf

According to Nicoletti, “The pandemic was great for the game of golf.” With public golf courses hitting their peak demand, it’s ironic that while interest in golf is soaring, finding an affordable place to play is becoming tougher. Just think about that ridiculous price tag—less than $800 to play at the stunning Pebble Beach course! However, you can experience its virtual version at The Cave for a fraction of that price. Sounds like a steal, right?

A New Direction After Injury

The idea for The Cave began when Swearingen faced a back injury that sidelined his career as a caddy. Nicoletti shared, “When he was recovering, he needed a Plan B.” So, he got to work building The Cave—yes, it’s literally a man cave built with his own hands! How’s that for dedication?

Future Plans and Pickleball!

But wait, there’s more! They’re planning to add two indoor pickleball courts later this year. Until then, patrons can enjoy golf, and beginner-friendly lessons are offered as well. Nicoletti emphasizes the welcoming environment at The Cave, saying, “Coming here, you don’t have to worry about being intimidated. This is a place where beginners, advanced, and intermediate players can come and enjoy themselves without that intimidation factor.” They’ve even got fun simulator games for kids to get everyone involved!

Step into the Game

Want to see how it works? Swearingen demonstrated by driving a ball into the simulator screen. The real ball hit the screen, but the virtual ball soared across the simulated course, landing perfectly on the green. It may take a couple of holes to adjust—after all, there’s no horizon for depth perception—but Swearingen insists it’s incredibly accurate. “You’ll see. It’s super realistic,” he says, and who wouldn’t be interested in that?

The Future Looks Bright

As The Cave continues to grow, it’s clear that golf in Estero is evolving. With more people moving to Florida every day, there’s a need for spaces like this—a place to tee off, unwind, and enjoy a meal with friends. Whether you’re an expert with a golf club or just starting to swing, The Cave could be your next favorite hangout! So, grab your buddies and try it out—who knows, you might just find your new golf home!
