Indoor Golf Takes Southwest Florida by Storm
As the sun sets on the days of outdoor golf driving ranges in Southwest Florida, a new trend is swinging into action—indoor golf simulators! The Cave, a fresh addition to Estero, has taken this idea and run with it, blending relaxation with a love for the game. Located at 9250 Corkscrew Road, Suite 13, this vibrant bar and restaurant is more than just a place to grab a bite; it’s a golfer’s haven.
A Unique Concept with a Heart
Opened on February 4 by Karen Nicoletti, a former LPGA professional golfer, and her husband Brad Swearingen, a former golf caddy, The Cave proves that golf can be fun and accessible. Their vision? Providing local golf enthusiasts, newcomers, and even the kiddos a space to play indoor golf without feeling daunted. With free women’s golf clinics on Mondays and special discounts for veterans, police, firefighters, emergency medical services, and educators, they are committed to giving back to the community.
Golf Like You’ve Never Experienced
Open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., The Cave offers a unique experience where patrons can grab a simulator for just $50 per hour. Up to six players can enjoy a friendly game on one simulator, with a choice of tasty menu items—their lineup includes pizza, wings, and various appetizers.
“The pandemic was great for the game of golf,” Nicoletti said, noting that public golf courses are thriving. Yet, with high costs making it challenging for many, The Cave opens its doors to a lavish golfing experience without emptying wallets. For instance, while it might cost around $800 to play the real Pebble Beach course, players can savor the virtual version at a fraction of the cost.
From Injury to Innovation
Swearingen’s journey to creating The Cave wasn’t without hurdles. After suffering a back injury that sidelined his caddy career, he needed a change. Thus, The Cave was born—crafted with care and passion through hard work and creativity. “He pretty much built it with his own two hands,” Nicoletti said with pride.
More Fun on the Horizon
Looking ahead, The Cave has big plans, including the addition of two indoor pickleball courts later this year. They are not just focused on golf; they aim to create a fun and engaging environment for all sorts of sports lovers. “This is a place where beginners and advanced players can come together. No intimidation factor here,” enthused Nicoletti.
Golf Simulators Like No Other
The fun doesn’t stop at regular golf play. Swearingen demonstrated how easy it is to play on a simulator, launching a ball onto the screen where it perfectly mirrored a real golf shot landing on the green. “It might take a little getting used to,” he pointed out, referring to the need for players to adjust to the lack of a physical horizon. But soon enough, he assures, the realistic graphics will have anyone feeling as though they’re truly on the golf course!
Final Thoughts
The Cave is breathing new life into the golf scene in Estero, attracting golfers of all ages and skill levels. With its blend of golf, camaraderie, and good food, it’s sure to become the go-to spot for locals looking to have some fun on the green, even if it’s indoors. So if you’re in the mood for a friendly game, amazing food, and a welcoming atmosphere, head to The Cave—where every swing feels just right!
