Estero’s Golf Scene Just Got a Whole Lot Cooler!
If you’re in Southwest Florida and love golf, you might want to take a break from the heat and head indoors! Outdoor golf driving ranges are disappearing faster than a well-aimed putt, but guess what? Indoor golf simulators are taking their place. Say hello to The Cave, the hottest spot for golf enthusiasts in town, offering a blend of great food, drinks, and, oh yes—golf!
Welcome to The Cave!
Located at 9250 Corkscrew Road, Suite 13, The Cave, which opened its doors on February 4, is run by Karen Nicoletti, an LPGA professional golfer, and her husband Brad Swearingen, a former golf caddy. The duo is all about making golf accessible and fun, especially for those who may shy away from the sport.
In addition to providing a welcoming environment, they are shaking things up with free women’s golf clinics every Monday and special discounts for veterans, law enforcement, firefighters, emergency medical services, and educators. This is definitely a place where you can hit a few balls without any pressure!
Simulators and Snacks!
Wondering about the cost? Using one of their top-notch simulators will set you back $50 an hour, and the good news is, they can accommodate up to six people! So, whether you’re bringing friends or family, it’s bound to be a blast. And while you’re at it, you can munch on some yummy pizza, wings, and other appetizers from their menu. Nothing goes better with golf than good food!
A Game with a View—Sort of
Gone are the days when you had to cough up nearly $800 for a real round at Pebble Beach. The Cave’s simulators let you experience top golf courses without emptying your wallet. Swearingen shares his thoughts on outdoor ranges disappearing: “When he was recovering from a back injury that sidelined him from caddying, he wanted to create something special, and thus, The Cave was born—a plan B that’s turning into an A+ experience for many.”
More Than Just Golf
What’s even better? They’re not stopping at golf. They have plans to build two indoor pickleball courts later this year! It seems like The Cave wants to become the go-to hangout for any sports enthusiast in Estero. “This is a place where you can come and enjoy without that intimidation factor. We have great games on our simulators for kids,” Nicoletti says.
How Does It Work?
If you’re curious about how accurate these simulators really are, take it from Swearingen himself. He demonstrates by driving a ball into the simulator’s screen. The real-world impact of the ball hits the screen, while the virtual ball follows its trajectory, flawlessly landing on the green. “It might take a little getting used to,” he admits. “But you’ll think you’re really out on the course—it’s super realistic!”
The Golfing Community Grows
As golf gains popularity, especially post-pandemic, The Cave is perfectly positioned to welcome both seasoned players and first-timers. Nicoletti emphasized, “Public golf courses are hitting their all-time highs, but it’s tough for the average person to afford the sport.” With indoor simulators, they’re hoping to change that narrative.
